I took this picture in makassar, uploaded here as the beginning of my Makassar series
I'm really glad if you like it
All comments are appreciated, wheter you like it or not.
There's nothing I can say here about it that others haven't already said
and I hate being repetitious. Oh yes, I can say something no one else has said
- far be it from me to be at a loss for words - it is simply FANTABULOUS!
There are three of them - four if you count the buoy tower (it is a buoy right?)-
the are there, looking out, watching, waiting, there is a story there. What are they looking for, waiting for?
There is clearly expectation in play there.
Perhaps they are waiting for a boat to come along and pick them up?
Perhaps they are located there as sentinels, watchers, eyes,... to espy something or someone?
Did their own boat sink and they were stranded there, sought the buoy as refuge until rescue could occur?
It's a mystery, but there is most definitely something going on or about to,.. perhaps the greatest strength of the photo is
the untold story of what is yet to happen and is not shown? There is a background story clearly evident - they are there after all - but it's the sense of expectation the poses and photo conveys that contain the real story I think.
wow thanks for your appreciation. You can see soo deep to this picture. Yes it is a mistery. what mistery that is contained inside, it is up to you. I let your imagination to play with it
Well, of course, my friend,...
is there truly any other way that really makes sense in art?
Sometimes I comment, but generally, when visitors come to my own gallery
(brick and mortar one, not online) and start asking me about what that painting means, what that
photo is about etc., I generally just tell them, well, whatever it means to you is what it means. lol
There are times, of course, when commentary is appropriate. In journalism, for instance. I worked as
a photojournalist and wildlife photographer for a time and often times the publications that hired me
always wanted at least some caption with each photo explaining location, context etc.
But most of the time, personally, I often find too much commentary on an art work, regardless of media or medium, often spoils the experience for me. Sometimes it enhances it, but mostly not.
Although I do realize most people tend to want everything spelled out for them, what to think, what things mean etc.
But that's not me.
Fabulous. The lighting is so dramatic. It's a fascinating photograph. The scene and how the three are standing creates a sense that there's a story here.

Way to go!
Keep up the wonderful work!
Peace.
